Healing
5-30-10
Is healing for today or was it just
for the early church?
Psalm 103:2-3
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His
benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,(NKJV)
Physical healing was certainly part of the Old
Covenant
It certainly was available to the early church.
Why wouldn’t it be available to us today with a better
covenant?
How was our provision for healing made available?
Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded
for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for
our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.(NKJV)
Total provision was made for our healing –spirit
soul and body
1 Peter 2:24
by His stripes you were healed.
We never really doubt God’s ability
but whether He will or not.
How does doubt keep us from receiving?
James 1:6-7
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he
who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not
that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;(NKJV)
Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to
please God.
Faith comes from God alone.---is is never self
manufactured.
Romans 12:3 says everyone has been given the measure of
faith.
Even the atheist has been given the measure
of faith.
What if we don’t have the faith to believe God
for a healing?
In Luke 17:5 the apostles said Lord increase our faith.
God gives us a way to receive more
faith.
Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the
word of God.(NKJV)
The Rhema proceeds from the Logos
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word (logos), and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.(NKJV)
And the Word became flesh
Even though the provision has been made
there has to be a release of power.
The Holy Spirit never goes into operation without
the proceeding Word.
When will the power be released for your healing?
When the Word goes forth and is received by
faith---Same as salvation.
Psalm 107:20
He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them
from their destructions.(NKJV)
In Mark chapter 11 there are two ways mentioned to
receive.
1. Speaking ---Jesus cursed theFig tree
In verse 22 Jesus says have faith in God.
In verse 23 He says whoever says to the mountain….
In verse 24 He mentions prayer
Mark 11:24
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when
you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.(NKJV)
We see two provision here speaking to situations or
mountains and prayer.
When we speak we are to believe those
things which we say and we must believe when we pray.
Faith is involved is receiving ---but God will provide the
faith!
We act on our faith and
believe.
We also see further instruction on how
we are to speak and pray.
I Peter 4:11 says if any man speaks let him speak as the
oracles of God ---(utterances of the
Living Voice)
The word instructs us how to pray in
Ephesians 6:18
Praying in the Spirit.
Jude 1:20
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your
most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,(NKJV)
Our speaking and prayer aided and
influenced by the Holy Spirit.
A release of power for healing by effectively speaking
His word made possible by Him.
Many times the words He gives us to speak become
Rhemas.
Ephesians 6:17 says we have the sword of the Spirit
which is the word of God (Rhema)
Cutting words spoken to destroy the work of the enemy
In Matthew
4:4
Jesus said Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds
from the mouth of God.
All the emphasis is on God
Romans 4:17
As it is written, I have made you the father of many
nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed,
Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has
foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.(AMP)
God call those things which are not as though they
were.
How does He do that?----By His Word
When we begin to speak and pray His words today
there will be a release of power for healing.
How do we know that?
Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it
shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.(NKJV)
Does this verse still apply today? Yes
Did it work for salvation? -------(Explain) yes
If we effectively speak His words
flowing through us it will bring about what it is intended to do.
In the bible we can find examples of people
receiving healing where their faith was not involved---but the faith of
the person ministering to that person.
Lazarus or Jarius’s daughter did not exercise their
own faith.
What may stop the flow of healing?
Immediately after the verses about speaking to
mountains and prayer and believing we can read the following.
Mark 11:25-26
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have
anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also
forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your
Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."(NKJV)
Why would God be interested in this?
3 John 1:2
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things
and be in health, just as your soul prospers.(NKJV)
Forgiving release you not the offender.
The Lord says vengeance is mine I will repay
It’s also important not to let negative
confessions interfere.
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And
those who love it will eat its fruit.(NKJV)
In John 6:63 Jesus said the words (rhemas) that I
speak to you they are Spirit and they are life.
How is life in the power of the tongue---by speaking His words
When we speak or pray for healing we speak
death to the root cause of the disease or sickness.
Proverbs 10:11 says the mouth of the righteous is a well of
life.
Some healing are instantaneous some are progressive.
Never claim ownership of a sickness or
disease.
Confession is possession.
Not only speaking His words but confessing the Word
works as well.
The Greek word for confess in the New Testament
means
to say
the same thing-agree with
Romans 10:10 says with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation
Romans 10:9
Because if you acknowledge and confess with your
lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and
rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.(AMP)
Healing
Healing is for today.
Healing is part of the atonement.
The word says we can speak or pray.
The word instructs us to speak or pray under His
influence.
The words we speak or pray can become rhemas.
We confess His word.
The Lord will impart the faith necessary.
When His words are spoken or confessed there will be
a release of power.
Receiving your healing is made easy with this understanding.
